Physical Education (PE)

We aim to deliver a high-quality physical education curriculum that instils the confidence and competence in children to begin a positive, sustained interest in physical activity and sport. Through this curriculum we teach children the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. We provide opportunities for developing children’s confidence, resilience and self-esteem. Through physical activity children develop and apply their creativity and thinking skills, helping them to become more effective learners. Children at Claremont are given opportunities to compete in sporting activities, learning to value fairness and respect through their physical education.

Claremont Primary School were awarded runners up for our Contribution to Sport & Physical Activity in the Education category of this years Manchester Sports Awards which took place at the Manchester Hilton, Deansgate on the 28th October 2017. We are using the PE and Sports Premium in many different ways at Claremont to raise the Quality of PE, School Sport Health and Well-Being. This year we are increasing the number of competitions we enter. This was the first time we had entered the year 3/4 mini-tennis tournament and what a start we had.

Each child had to play a game against an opponent from another school in their pool. All the squad performed amazingly and had a great time competing showing fantastic Olympic / Paralympic values. The A team finished an incredible first place and are now through to the City Wide finals in May 2017, unfortunately we can only take the A team through but a big well done to all the children - Mrs Richardson and Claremont are very proud of you!

FA Girls' Year 3 and 4 Football
