Music Lessons
Beyond the music curriculum, children have to opportunity to develop their music skills through either whole class or small group instrument lessons.
These whole class music lessons that take place at Claremont:
- Year 2 – Drumming
- Year 3 – Recorders
- Year 5 and Year 6 – Rockband (Acoustic and Electric Guitar/Samba Drums/Keyboard)
There are also small groups lessons where children learn one of the following instruments:
- Guitars
- Violins
- Trumpets
- Drums
During the Summer term, Year 4 children are given the opportunity to audition for our Steelband. These children then learn a variety of songs in a weekly lesson during Year 5 and will perform during some of our assemblies. Once in Year 6 the children become part of our perfomance Steelband. This band will perform during weekly assemblies. We are very proud that our steelband has also been asked to perform at a number of events outside school.
All the children who learn to play an instrument perform each term and their parents are invited to attend these concerts.
