Powerhouse Library visits

At Claremont we believe that it is important to encourage a love of reading. We take the children on termly visits to Powerhouse library, which is located close to school. The children are given the opportunity to explore the library and find out how it works. They meet the librarians and take part in story times and quizzes. As part of the session the children are able to choose a library book that they can keep in school until their next visit to the library.  We also receive a visit from the librarians each year to tell us all about the Summer Reading Challenge.

Read with SEED

Claremont Primary has close links with Manchester university and we are very pleased that volunteers form the School of Environment, Education and Development give up some of their time to come into our school and listen to some of our year 3 children read. Reading aloud is a really important skill that helps children to develop fluency and confidence. The University have very generously donated lots of fabulous books to our Accelerated Reader collections too.
