Rockband

In Year 5 and 6, the children learn a variety of instruments, with excellent music teachers from the We Will Rock You project, and form their own class ‘rockband’.

The children try out a variety of instruments including:

• acoustic guitar
• electric guitar
• samba drums
• keyboard
• piano.

As a class, they learn how to play the different instruments and come up with their own arrangements of well known songs.

Each term the children in rockband have the opportunity to perform their compositions to their parent/carers at one of our music concerts.

At the end of Year 6, the children work with the rockband teachers to produce their own song. They use the skills they have learnt throughout their rockband lessons and add lyrics that share memories of their time at Claremont. The children then perform their composition at the Year 6 leavers’ assembly.
