Science is a core subject in the primary curriculum. At Claremont it is taught for 2 hours a week as a stand-alone subject.
Science allows children to be curious and improve their skills through investigations. During lessons children make predictions, carry out experiments and find results before analysing the cause.
Within our Science planning we give the children chance, where possible, to use cross curricular skills during their learning. For example, using graph skills and data handling when carrying out experiments links well with Numeracy while at the same time using their English skills to help give clear explanations to show their understanding.
We love it when children ask ‘Why?’ and encourage them to ask questions because Science gives them the ability to find out for themselves.
Each year we celebrate Science week. We will have lots of evidence of all our exciting activities on the News & Events page.
